I walk through the bush
in the quiet of the dawn -
And hear the cries of the crow,
lonely and forlorn.
I walk through the bush
in the stillness of noon -
And see no sign of life
save a tiny cocoon.
I walk through the bush
in the coolness of the eve -
And admire the web
I watched a spider weave.
I walk through the bush
in the darkness of the night -
And I'm touched by the sound
of a hundred bats in flight.
I hear the whipbirds call
"This is my domain!"
And, as I walk, I wonder -
'How long will this remain?'
