When you entered the room
I was afraid,
terrified of speaking
with a stranger,
making a fool of myself.
You surprised me.
You were so open,
so honest.
I found myself sharing,
telling things noone knew -
even my lover.
When tragedy struck
you were there for me,
keeping me alive,
sane.
Each breath I take,
each sound I hear,
each smile I see
is a gift
direct from your heart.
We live far apart
and may never meet,
but you are more
a true friend
than any other.
I just want to say
thank you, friend,
for accepting me,
helping me,
caring.
You are surely
my friend.
