Gum trees reach to a clear blue sky,
Stringybarks, Whitegums and more.
Grass decorates the uneven ground
and penetrates right to the core.
Flowers blooming everywhere,
the most beautiful you ever saw.
Kangaroos sit in the warm sunlight
or hop along, strong and fast.
Birds sing in the branches of trees
as they've done for ages past.
Echidnas burrow into the ground
as a grass snake slithers past.
A streambed gurgles and hisses and laughs
and frogs croak from out of its depths.
A frilled-neck dashes from under a rock
just issing a spider's net.
A kookaburra laughs from overhead
as a young koala gets wet.
A lyrebird repeats every sound it hears.
A wombat lumbers by.
A magpie sings a loud, sweet song
as she teaches her young to fly.
A young girl sits and begins to read
and a barn owl wonders why.
